Oil Name:
Marigold
Botanical Name
Calendula: Tagetes minuta
Description
The Tagetes minuta, and not the Calendula officinalis, is native to the temperate grasslands of southern South America…. It is actually known by the names of Tagette, Mexican Marigold or Pot of Gold. It is now grown throughout the world, albeit has only been introduced to most adopting countries after 1948. The plant can grow reasonably bushy and the aroma is scent-sational. Just the slightest brush against the leaves will leave you lingering to do it again. The flowers are usually light burnt orange similar to the common Marigold in color yet more fragile and wispy reminding me of miniature cosmos in autumn attire. The Essential Oil is more typically steam distilled from the stem, leaves, and flower. The Essential Oil is recommended in leg rubs and creams and people with varicose veins could also benefit to nurture a living Marigold (Tagetes minuta) plant into their home or garden and brush by the plant once in a while and it will nurture you in return. Planted next to a blooming Jasmine the garden aromas can be termed enightlightening, as it somehow melts daylight and nighttime smells together.
