Oil Name:
Basil
Botanical Name
Ocimum basilicum
Description
Basil is the king of herbs. Actually, the Greek word basileus means king. The botanical name Ocimum comes from the Greek word meaning "to be fragrant". It is used in so many ways and it comes in so many varieties. Basil is a member of the mint family. It is native to India, Africa and Asia. It is known now all over the world and is one of the most popular herbs grown. It is often considered a symbol of love. Basil is a tender annual herb with a strong spicy-sweet uplifting aromatic scent. Most people simply enjoy its aroma. Our choice of Basil, Ocimum basilicum, is Sweet Basil, which is the "generic" term for most of the unnamed varieties. It has a wonderful warm aroma that clings pleasantly to your memory. Greeks know basil as a regal plant. A dark room filed with the aroma of basil oil can bring relief from the misery of migraine.
