Oil Name:
Citronella
Botanical Name
Cymbopogon nardus
Description
Citronella is like an old good friend, the more you know of it, the more delightful it becomes. Initially, I thought of Citronella from my childhood memories of the candle used to repel mosquitoes. As I study and use it, I am being continuously surprised by how different it is today. First of all there are two types of Citronella, Ceylon (Sri Lanka) type, and Java type. Both are similar to each other, however, the Java type, which is the one Venturoma stocks, is a more “modern” and aromatically intensive type, more sweet and floral. The Citronella-Java aroma is well balanced to blend the first burst of the traditional lemony scent to flow into the rosy-geranium tone. Citronella is a 6 – 7 foot tall aromatic perennial tropical scented grass that is derived from the wild “managrass”. The Citronella Essential Oil is steam distilled from the leaves and yields a smooth soothing pale yellow colored long lasting and uplifting, vitalizing oil. It is worthwhile using as a repellant; however, it would be even better served today for it’s antiseptic, antibacterial, antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties. It is marvelous to use as a complementary medicinal masking aroma. Once you have tried the Citronella Essential Oil, you will long for it again. Its fascinating aroma very slowly fades into the soft slightly moist grassy butterfly fields of youth and on the horizon not a bug is in sight. Surround yourself with a picture perfect day.
